to hell with the annoying kid, to hell with writing in depth about stuff, to hell with not being able to sleep in (since, for some reason, i can't for the last 2 nights)
OK, so Mark is inviting who knows how many people to his party, and he told me to search for a girl i hooked up with 4 years ago. Now, this is a good story, so I guess i'll go into it.....
3 years ago, our church youth group headed to Atlanta for the lutheran youth gathering thingy. I know, me? church? youth group? The real Brian and I were Co-Vice Presidents (thats right, co-) and Walker was the Treasurer, with Mark as President, so lets just say we weren't all that churchy. We teamed up with groups in our area and chartered a bus with a group from Clyde to drive down there. Settling into our seats, everyone from our area was pairing up, and I fell into sitting with a girl from Clyde. I looked myself a once-over, decided she wasn't half bad, and upon further review, she was actually pretty cute/hot/good looking. Now, this was the summer after my Junior year, I had just been to Florida in June, and this was in July. Yes, if you know me, and think back, i had been kinda dating Kristen for a month, but I had been gone for 2 ish weeks of that, so it wasn't all that serious yet. Back to story: we kinda talk as the ride progresses, and eventually, darkness begins, and people gradually drift off to sleep or become engrossed in the movies that were showing. Not us, we stayed awake. We started kissing, and one thing led to another, and lets just say, I think she had fun, and I was happy to be of service. Bus ride over, parted ways for the week. On the way back, no game was had, and after the trip, we parted ways, never to be seen again, or so I thought.
Back to present day. Mark remembers her and tells me to find her on Facebook. Being the resourceful beast that I am, I had to change my high school to Clyde just to find her, but i did it, dammit. Send her a friend request, she starts talkin to me on AOL, I idemtify myself, and we talk for a couple hours. She goes to Albion in Michigan, and wants to hang out over the summer. Yeah, cool. Turns out she was coming home this wekend, and I told her to call me and we could hang out. Friday night was a wash, so Saturday rolls around, and she's gonna come over after she's done with work. What's a Scott to do? Mom made a big supper, so no out to eat. Movies? No, there's no time to talk and get to know someone. Hang out at home? Sure, but oh wait, no, Mark decides to plan to have Halo here, and with the idiots here, there's no chance of that. I decide that we can go into BG and get ice cream. Harmless enough. She gets here, and i was planning her calling when she got close to be able to help her find the place and give me warning. Nope, she found it without calling just as mom and dad were pulling in. stupid parents want to stop and talk and whatnot. Bad, bad old folks. Westphal's got me parked in, and I haven't been able to fix my front end and my lights yet, so wonderfully, she has to drive. How chivalrous of me, right? It gets better. We get to DQ, and by the time we get waited on and she orders first, she's got her money out and handed to the guy before i can even get my wallet out. Boom, there goes paying. We're eating and talking, and if you know me, I talk about me and my people a lot, so I have to force myself to stop talking and ask questions. Whole evening, I'm fishing for conversation about her, missed a lot of my chances, and it came out a little awkward. I attribute that to not talking to her or even knowing her for 3 years after only 2 encounters in a 1 week span. Hopefully, if we hang out a second time, it'll be better.
